The NBA trade deadline has been even more active than first projected. The 2011 NBA trade deadline just came and went at noon PST / 3 p.m. EST, meaning that the teams had
trades before that point. Now that the dust has started to settle, there are definitely some big winners and losers in these deals that could affect the direction of several franchises now.

The two biggest trades earlier in the week were covered pretty extensively, and that included Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups going to the New York Knicks for a group of players. Then there was the Deron Williams deal, where the Utah Jazz sent him to the New Jersey Nets for Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, and several other pieces. While those two deals definitely improved the Nets and Knicks, they are going to have to take a back seat to some of the deals that went down on Thursday, Feb. 24 (at least for a little while).

Among the deals that went down right before the NBA trade deadline were a few that could leave people scratching their heads for a while. The Sporting News reported on several of these trades as they were going down, and there are a couple that could really change which teams are the biggest contenders in both conferences. Most of the deadline deals have to be approved by the league before they become official, but we are only going to report on the ones that have become official and aren't just rumored out there.

The Phoenix Suns acquired Aaron Brooks from the Houston Rockets for Goran Dragic and a first-round draft pick. This trade gives the Suns another weapon on offense, and quite possibly a guard to take over if they decide they are going to trade away Steve Nash in the offseason. Brooks is a free agent at the end of the current season, though, so he either needs an extension or he could be lost to free agency. He is a restricted free agent, though, so the Suns could match any offer made to him.
